SIKESTON - Harold Pittman announced that he will be a candidate for alderman from Ward Two in the city election April 6.

SIKESTON - Jerry Jones was crowned St. Pat's King at the St. Pat's party in the gym last Friday night.

SIKESTON - Open house for the new addition of the Missouri Delta Community Hospital, held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, brought out approximately 1,200 people.

SIKESTON - Only six majestic columns of the First Methodist Church, one of the most ornate churches in southeast Missouri, were standing this morning following a fire that started early Saturday.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Park Board and City Council recently announced the names of Nora Springs and Lyman Dale will be added to the memorial board. An honor board was erected and dedicated in the spring of 1986 at the northwest entrance of the recreation complex. Individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the various community athletic programs in the city are eligible to have their names inscribed on a bronze plaque as a lasting memorial.

SIKESTON - Officer Jon Broom was recently presented with Officer of the Year honors by the city of Miner for his role in responding to an emergency medical situation.

SIKESTON - Jerry Vann was recent honored at a luncheon for his 19 years of dedication as a member of the Sheltered Workshop Board of Directors with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

SIKESTON - Kathy French, admissions coordinator for Providence Hospice Group, recently graduated from the Regents College Nursing Program and passed her state board exam. She is now a licensed registered nurse.
