ESSEX - Lee Daniel DeJournett, 78, died July 27, 2005, in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter.

Born Feb. 9, 1927, at Essex, son of the late Virgil and Mary England DeJournett, he was a member of the South Pleasant Valley General Baptist Church near Essex. A self-employed mechanic in Essex, he was a veteran of the United States Army.

On July 11, 1946, at Essex, he marred Jean Williamson who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Terry DeJournett of Olive Branch, Miss., David DeJournett of Essex and Larry DeJournett of Memphis, Tenn.; and one grandchild.

One brother, J.F. DeJournett, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. The Revs. Ronnie Ledbetter and Sam Brotherton will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Triplett Cemetery near Essex.
