Buttrum takes checkered flag at strip

SIKESTON -- Mark Buttrum of Murphysboro, Ill., claimed first place in the Super Pro division at the Sikeston Drag Strip on Saturday.

Buttrum ran an elapsed time of 5.898 seconds at 83.31 mph with an dial-in of 5.10 seconds and a reaction time of .522 seconds.

Runner-up Rob Sample clocked 136.36 mph in an e.t. of 5.085 with a dial-in of 5.10 and a r.t. of .490.

Greg Harty won the Pro division averaging 101.41 mph with an e.t. of 6.642 and a dial-in of 6.64 and r.t. of .536.

Cecil Hammontree finished second with an average speed of 87.04 mph in 7.678 seconds. He had a dial-in of 7.65 with a r.t. of .511.

In the E.T. class, Gene Musgrave took the top prize with a speed of 90.87 mph in an e.t. of 7.185 with a dial-in of 7.13 and a r.t. of .590.

Second place went to Wayne Cunningham who ran at 78.76 mph with an e.t. of 8.597 and a dial-in of 8.53 and r.t. of .724.

Taylor Bowman captured the Junior Dragster division with an average speed of 86.22 mph in an e.t. of 7.563. He had a dial-in of 7.51 with a r.t. of .584.

Brett Castro finished second at 71.21 mph with an e.t. of 9.215, a dial-in of 8.98 and a r.t. of .654.
