CHAFFEE - Charles "Blue" Stringfellow, 76, died at 5:40 a.m. May 29, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Dec. 4, 1927, in Chaffee, son of the late James and Nanny Smith Stringfellow, he was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Jackson. He retired in 1968 as a sergeant first class with the U.S. Army, after 23 years of service and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War. From 1969 to 1980, he was employed by Procter and Gamble in Cape Girardeau, retiring as a warehouse supervisor. He was also a member and past commander of Chaffee VFW Post 3127.
On April 13, 1962, he married Irene Dennison who survives of the home.
He is also survived by one sister, Opal Coakley of Chaffee; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
The Rev. Watis Harrell conducted graveside services at 1 p.m. today at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield where graveside military rites were also held.
Pallbearers were: Melton Mouser, Jason Mouser, Donnie Kiefer, Roger Seyer, Richard Seyer and Mike Lee.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Chaffee VFW Post 3127.
