DEXTER - Leon Laird, 60, died June 4, 2004, at his home.
Born March 23, 1944, in Essex, son of the late Clyde E. and Martha Rice Laird, he lived in Dexter and Essex most of his life. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was employed by Tyson Foods in Dexter and was of the Baptist belief.
On May 9, 1968, at Essex, he married Wilma Deck who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Robert Laird of Dexter; four brothers, Laverne Leo Laird of Essex, Lowell Lee Laird of Wappapello, Lyndell Leroy Laird of Advance and Clyde Laird Jr. of Bloomfield; two sisters, Loretta Louise Whittley of Bloomfield and Nola Clara Hoggard of Advance; and two grandsons.
One daughter, Sherry Laird, preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter will officiate.
The Stoddard County Honor Guard will conduct full military rites at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
