ST. LOUIS - Effie Mae Falkoff, 100, formerly of East Prairie, died July 7, 2005.
Born April 22, 1905, in Arkansas to the late Andrew J. and Martha Ann Ryker, she was a well-known teacher of dance, piano and the social graces for more than 80 years in East Prairie and the surrounding communities and Creve Coeur. She was the queen at the opening of the Mississippi River Bridge at Cairo. She moved to St. Louis 25 years ago to live with her daughter.
In 1937, at St. Louis, she married Simon Falkoff, who preceded her in death.
Also she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Haywood and Tessie Wilkinson.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Ceceila and Dr. Alan Spivack of St. Louis; two sons, David and Sidney Falkoff of Sikeston; three granddaughters, Laura Haase, Helen Solomon and Monica Aronson; four great-grandchildren; and a great-niece, Nancy Moss Bird of East Prairie.
Graveside services were conducted July 10 at the B'nai Amoona Cemetery in St. Louis.
