Fred Golightly

CHAFFEE - Fred Golightly, 83, died at 2 p.m. June 18, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Jan. 16, 1921, in Chaffee, son of the late Otto and Maude Doughty Golightly, he retired as a fleet mechanic for the Central Food Packing Company in Cape Girardeau. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the First Baptist Church and VFW Post 3127 in Chaffee.

On April 25, 1949, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Allwood who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Fred R. Golightly of San Ygnacio, Texas; one daughter, Susan Uhrhan of Chaffee; one brother, Harold "Hank" Golightly of Chaffee; one sister, Frances Simpher of Delta; one grandson, Rusty Golightly of Chaffee; two granddaughters, Richelle Halter of Chaffee and Vanessa Carlton of Evansville, Ind.; four great-grandchildren, Maeghan Halter and Mitchell Halter of Chaffee and Tylor Carlton and Nykki Carlton of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.

One sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Marty Blakey will officiate.

Full military honors will be conducted at Union Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Rusty Golightly, Clem Halter, Derek DeSpain, Chad DeSpain, Ryan Pennington and Bill Rehak.
