CHARLESTON - Gertrude Renaud Stricker, 95, died at 7:20 p.m. Feb. 10, 2008, at her home.
Born Feb. 6, 1913, in Perryville, to the late Henry Louis and Appie Unterriener Renaud, she was a graduate of Charleston High School and St. Mary's School of Nursing in Cairo, Ill. She was a registered nurse at St. Mary's Hospital and Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston until her retirement in 1978. A member of St. Henry's Catholic Church in Charleston, she was an active member in numerous church organizations, including the Legion of Mary, founding member of the St. Henry's Quilt Club, Texas Bend Extension Club, volunteer for RSVP and taught first aid classes for many years.
On Oct. 20, 1937, she married Paul Bernard Stricker, who preceded her in death on July 25, 1964.
Three brothers, Dalbert Renaud, Henry Renaud and Harold Renaud; and two sisters, Beatrice Baundendistel and Mildred Renaud also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son, Steve Stricker of Oxford, Miss.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Michael Hillmeyer of Marshallville, Ga., Pat and Larry Rost and Paula and Peter Rost of New Madrid; two sisters, Catherine Pottinger of Dallas and Mabel Tenkhoff of Oran; and 12 grandchildren and 21 great-
grandchildren; and a special friend, Lisa Warren.
Visitation is from 10-11:15 a.m. at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, followed by a funeral mass which will be celebrated at 11:30 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Charleston with the Revs. Richard Rolwing and Scott Sunnenberg serving as celebrants.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Michael Hillmeyer, Greg Hillmeyer, Hunter Rost, Paul Rost, Peter Rost Jr., Stephen Stricker Jr., Scott Stricker and Shane Stricker.
