Sunday, October 26, 2003

SIKESTON - Students at Sikeston High School had the opportunity to gain insight about accounting careers recently.

Wilfred E. Bucher of Sikeston, a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), shared information about the profession that opens doors to employment opportunities in virtually every business and organization. Bucher explain ed that starting salaries are outstanding for college accounting graduates.

To help high school students understand the opportunities associated with accounting, MSCPA and the Lead and Enhance the Accounting Profession LEAP) created the advocacy and awareness program about the CPA profession.

MSCPA has granted more than 100 academic scholarships during the past two years for students who major in accounting.

Scholarships may be applied for at the LEAP student website, www.leap-forward.com
