MALDEN - Mr. and Mrs. George L. Dye have gone to New Orleans, La., where he has been transferred with the Blair Construction Co. from Malden.
DEXTER - Monsanto Chemical Co.'s Agricultural Division today confirmed plans to build a modern fertilizer, custom-blend plant and storage facilities at Hunterville, located east of Dexter in Stoddard County.
SIKESTON - Officials believe the city of Sikeston can build and partially equip a new fire station in the southeast section of town for less than $200,000, which can be manned for a minimum of $92,500 per year thereafter. The City Council authorized the staff to begin the purchase process and included the fire station construction in the first year of the newly adopted five-year capital improvement plan.

SIKESTON - Veterans' Park soon will boast a display of military hardware, including a tank and possibly a jet. Tom Austin of the Veterans' Park Committee, who spearheaded the effort to establish the Linn Street park, addressed a special meeting of the Sikeston City Council Tuesday. He said his group had access to a M60 tank, an F-84 fighter jet and a ship's anchor.
SIKESTON - Dr. Sam Harbin will be interim director for the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce on a voluntary basis, Chamber President Mark Nelson announced. "Sam has volunteered 20 hours a week to help the Chamber in its reorganization process," said Nelson. "He will evaluate Chamber programs, call on Chamber members and make recommendations to the Chamber Board." Harbin is the former superintendent of Sikeston Public Schools.
