Janet HInson wither Oustanding Achievement plaque

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Janet Hinson, a 67-year-old mother from Morehouse, was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award by Duncan's Martial Arts School of Cape Girardeau.

"Janet proves that almost anyone can benefit from the study of some type of martial arts at any age and bring valuable resources and experiences to the table," said instructor Jimmy Duncan.

Hinson began studying Tai Chi, a soft, fluid style of martial arts, in 2001; then decided to take on a more physically demanding discipline, Tae Kwon Do.

She recently earned her blue belt and is more than half way to a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Hinson also fills an important behind-the-scenes role as the school's monthly newsletter editor.
