DEXTER - Lola Slaughter Waters, 91, died Nov. 1, 2002, at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Dexter.
Born April 6, 1911, in Zalma, daughter of the late Leo and Phebe Sherrills Davis, she lived in Dexter since 1937. She had been employed by the Elder Manufacturing Company for 25 years and she and her husband owned and operated Lola's Cafe, Cubs Cafe, LaHub Cafe and Ketch-A-Bite Cafe in Dexter. She was a member of the General Baptist Church at Zalma.
In 1929, she married Melvin Slaughter who died on June 17, 1986. On April 14, 1988, she married Ben Waters who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Juanita Shelton of Cape Girardeau and Myrtle Swallows of Dexter; one sister, Pat Gardener of St. Charles; and seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Five sisters and five brothers also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. Monday until service time at 1 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Dale Grissom will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
