SIKESTON - Mrs. Marie Dickerman Weaks, beloved mother of Trudye Weaks Blackard of Jacksonville, Fla., and Gary P. Weaks and his wife, Carole, of Atlanta, Ga., passed away Oct. 9, 2004.
Mrs. Weaks graduated from Matthews High School and attended business college in St. Louis.
She married Robert Henry "Jake" Weaks, a local lifelong farmer, who predeceased her on Nov. 14, 1995. She was the daughter of Harold Dickerman and Mary Oliver Dickerman Tally who predeceased her, as did her brother, Harold J. Dickerman.
An active member of the First Christian Church, Mrs. Weaks was a volunteer Pink Lady for Missouri Delta Medical Center for more than 20 years. She was known for knitting her beautiful afghans and her enjoyment of bridge. She leaves many loved and devoted friends who blessed her life.
Survivors include her children and granddaughters, Blair Calhoun Blackard of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Jessica Lauren Weaks of the University of Georgia at Athens.
A celebration of life was held at 11 a.m. today at the First Christian Church with Dr. Allen Shriver, pastor, officiating. The family greeted friends in the vestibule of the church following the service.
Private interment followed the service for the family at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Nunnelee Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
