Highway Patrol reports injuries from accident

GIDEON - Two area residents were seriously injured over the weekend in a one-vehicle accident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a northbound vehicle driven by Manuel Lopez, 19, of Malden was traveling on Highway 153, one mile south of Gideon at 6:25 p.m. Saturday when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a mailbox and tree and came in rest in a ditch.

Lopez was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau and a passenger, 19-year-old Crystal Gamblin of Malden, was taken to Twin Rivers in Kennett.
