Emily LaPlant, daughter of Rick and Becky LaPlant, is the Standard Democrat's May Calender Girl. LaPlant, a finalist in the Miss Sikeston contest, plans to attend Southwest Missouri State University in the fall where she hopes to earn her degree in occupational therapy.
