Born June 29, 1928, in Jefferson City, son of the late Charles and Verna Mae Trial Cooper, he lived in St. Louis for many years, where he was a self-employed musician, and also lived in Springfield for three years.
On Nov. 6, 1963, in St. Louis, he married Martha Powell who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Robert David Cooper and Edward Cooper of Somerset, Ky.; three daughters, Lynn Hunsaker of Morrisville, Carolyn Jordan of Morehouse and Charlotte Kitchen of Dexter; one stepson, Charles Powell of Dudley; one stepdaughter, Frances Powell of Fisk; one sister, Marjorie Hogan of Minnesota; and 14 grandchildren.
Three sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will follow in the Dudley Cemetery.
