SIKESTON - A new store is opening in the quarters formerly occupied by the Lee and Feltner Shoe Shop, 116 West Front St. It is called The Economy Store and is owned by Mr. and Mrs. W.C. McManus. It will be open tomorrow.
SIKESTON - Bids were opened Monday night at the regular city council meeting for furnishing an additional generator unit for the Board of Public Works to be installed, when and if purchased, at the E.P. Coleman power plant. However, it was pointed out by Herb Phelps, chief engineer of the Board of Public Works, that the generator will be a completely self-contained and automatic unit which may be, if necessary, moved and set up as a substation.
SIKESTON - Two common sights this morning in Southeast Missouri were cars being pulled from large drifts and people shoveling snow from walks and driveways. Drivers throughout the area found it difficult to get out of driveways and get to work this morning.
SIKESTON - Lambert's Cafe is nominated for the Missouri Travel and Tourism Hall of Fame Award scheduled to be presented at the Missouri Travel and Tourism Conference.

MORLEY - Members of Cindy Taylor's Girl Scout troop in Morley presented residents of the Miner Nursing Center with toys prior to Christmas. The Scouts were working on a badge.
