BLOOMFIELD - Oscar J. "Shorty" Brady, 76, died Nov. 7, 2003, at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Bloomfield.
Born Nov. 17, 1926, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., to the late Marion and Gladys Birmingham Brady, he had lived in Bloomfield since 1946. A retired concrete construction employee for Jarrell's Concrete Co. in Bloomfield, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.
On March 26, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., he married Virginia Martin, who survives of Bloomfield.
Other survivors include: one son, Martin Brady of Zanesville, Ohio; one daughter, Sandra Pilcher of Clarksville, Tenn; one brother, Utah Brady of Houston, Texas; and one sister, Winnona McGuire of Gulfport, Miss.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Launa Rambo and Alice McQueen, and two brothers, Melton Brady and Rudolf Brady.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter where services will be conducted at 9:45 a.m. Monday. Mike Watkins of Dexter will officiate.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with the Southeast Missouri Veterans Honor Guard conducting military honors.
