Local volleyball team captures first place in Perryville tournament

ADVANCE -- The North Stoddard County 16's volleyball club completed its season with a championship in the Perryville 17's Tournament on Saturday.

The 16's began their season in January and competed in tournaments throughout the Gateway Region, which includes St. Louis-area teams.

The rankings, released by the Gateway Region on April 6, placed the 16's 22nd among 66 teams in the 16-year-old division.

Members of the team are Allison Harper, Sikeston; Leann Cavaness, Bernie; Lara Ford, Bernie; Bailey Stanley, Dexter; Kacie Ritter, Advance; Tori Gilliland, Advance; Alicia Reeves, Advance; Gina Moroni, Advance; and Brittany Ellison, Essex.

The 16's are coached by Carl Ritter Jr. and Amanda Bond.
