MoDOT checks for flooding

Sunday, January 9, 2005

SIKESTON - Missouri Department of Transportation workers are keeping an eye on several area roads over the weekend.

Melting snow and frequent rains have caused flood watches throughout the region. MoDOT crews will monitor roads that flood frequently and may need to close several roads if the water continues to rise.

In Mississippi County, crews will watch Route 80, two miles east of Route 77 to the Mississippi River; and Route 77 about one mile east of Route A near Dorena.

MoDOT will keep watch on Route WW from Route P to the Mississippi River in New Madrid County; and Route 162 about six miles east of Portageville.

Attention is also being given to Route E, one block from Missouri Street in Scott County.
