Just to think of all the things that start with the letter "D" that are negative: devil, deceit, discouragement, depression, damnation and just even Democrats.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United Socialist States of America, and to the democracy for which it stands. One nation under the masses, interdependent with liberty and justice for no one." That may become the pledge if the Democratic Party gains control of the House in this election year and the White House two years from now. It would like to be in power. You know it hurt when they lost control of the House in 1995 after having it for 40 years. And to think that during that 40 years, the Democrats controlled the Senate for 34 years and we have had four presidents in the White House during those same years. While it was a one-party control, we were living in utopia. Yeah, right. Give me a break. The economy was good during the Clinton years because of the Republican Contract With America, which benefited from the Reagan years.

Who can tell me where J.D.'s Steakhouse is? I've seen the ad in your paper but I haven't been able to find it on East Malone Avenue. I'm just a hungry citizen looking for some good food.

It is in Miner. Go past Lambert's and past the Interstate 55 ramps. J.D.'s is on the left.

Our good economy is based on fraud, lies and exaggeration. The foolish man built his house upon the sand and great was the fall of it.

I guess everybody got the word that people don't want more of their tax money spent for MoDOT. I noticed one of the highway department employees the other day stopped and took down a garage sale sign or something from a sign post. You know, after all, those sign posts belong to the taxpayers. I'll bet it took him 30 minutes to get that sign off that post before he finally got back in his truck. It looks like poor supervision to me and poor work ethics. Something needs to be done. They need to be reformed and reorganized.

I have been looking for a place to rent for the past three months. I have encountered that a lot of landlords and apartment complexes want to run a credit check. I don't understand what that has to do with a rent history. I, myself, have a terrible credit rating. The bank won't even loan me the paper to fill out a credit application. But my rent history is impeccable. I have rented from the same landlord for nearly 12 years, and not once was I late with my rent. Now she wants to tear my house down because it is termite-infested and would cost too much to fix. She sprayed and sprayed but I think it is too far gone. Anyway, I think if you only take into account a person's credit and not their rent history, then you are discriminating against people who are or have been down on their luck. You have to have a roof over your head and that comes first.
