Martin Strel, a 47-year-old Slovenian, stands on the banks of the Mississippi River Friday afternoon in New Madrid during his "Eye to Eye-Swimming for Peace, Friendship and Clean Waters" campaign. Strel is swimming the 2,360 miles of the Mississippi River which he started July 4 in Itasca Lake, Minn.
