CHARLESTON -- Jewell W. Taylor, 91, died at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 4, 2002, at his home.
Born Aug. 29, 1910, in Charleston, son of the late Narrell Roach and Dora J. Williams Taylor, he worked as the electrical maintenance supervisor at Brown Shoe Company for many years until his retirement. A U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II and the Korean War, he had served as civil engineer with the construction battalion. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Charleston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4294, where he served as past post commander.
Survivors include: one son, Clifford Taylor of Pensacola Beach, Fla.; special friends, Myrtle McClanahan, Louis and Mary Lou Bradley and Mike and Liz Morris of Charleston; and three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: two brothers, Joe Taylor and Pete Taylor.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Richard Combs of Jackson, a United Methodist minister, officiating.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
