PLANO, Texas -- James David Johnson, 80, died Sept. 1, 2007, at Plano.
Born March 12, 1927, in Arkansas, he was the son of the late Darris Governor and Minnie Bell McDougall Johnson.
On Sept. 9, 1953, in New Madrid, Mo., he married Evelyn A. Chidester who preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 1998.
Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Tom Johnson, Clarence Johnson, Allilee Johnson and Otis Johnson; and one sister, Lottie Mae Fox.
Survivors include: three sons, Darris Evert Johnson of Garland, James D. Johnson Jr. of Portageville, Mo., and Lester Carl Johnson of Lone Oak; two daughters, Evelyn L. Leggett of McKinney and Mary P. Hawkins of Princeton; one sister, Mary Sloan of Portageville; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Dr. Buck Morton will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
