BENTON -- Patches of black ice had motorists slipping and sliding all over the roadways in Scott County early today.
"They're all over the place," noted dispatcher Kelly Baker about the accidents. "That's where are deputies are right now."
According to the Scott County Sheriff's Department, several one-vehicle accidents with minor injuries were reported in the county.
"The people that are calling in have said when they're going around the corners, it's really slick," said Baker early today. "We even had a couple of rollovers."
Early morning accidents due to the black ice, which is a thin film of ice difficult for motorists to see, included: one on Highway 77 by the Blodgett exit, two on Highway D, one in front of Scott County Central schools, one on Highway PP and three on Highway 61 north of Benton. Baker predicted there were numerous other accidents that went unreported.
