COLUMBIA - The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association annually honors the best senior female basketball player and the best senior male basketball player in the state with the awards Miss and Mr. Show-Me Basketball.
Nominees for Miss and Mr. Show-Me Basketball must: (1) Be a senior and in a position to graduate, (2) Be a starter in 90% of games, (3) Be of outstanding moral character and (4) Be, in the opinion of the nominator, the best basketball player in the state of Missouri. Members of the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association nominated players for these awards.
Nominations for Mr. Show-Me Basketball are Willard's Matt Dyal, Vashon's Jimmy McKinney, Marquette's Troy Slaten, and Parkway West's Chip Sodemann.
Nominations for Miss Show-Me Basketball are Trenton's Casey Beavers, Ash Grove's Bethany Creed, Notre Dame de Sion's Erica Grimaldi, Blue Springs South's Nikki Knapp, Elsberry's Kari Koch, St. Charles' Cherice Mack, Liberty's Andi McAlexander, Rolla's Eziamaka Okafor, Reeds Spring's Allison Regier, and Hickman's Anna Rorvig.
The winners of Miss and Mr. Show-Me Basketball will be announced at the Academic All-State Banquet at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2002 at the Reynolds Alumni and Visitors Center on the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia. Tickets will be $25 each and can be obtained by contacting Aura Thomas at (573) 696-3929.
The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) annually recognizes the top high school coaches in the state by honoring them as MBCA Richard Fairchild Coach of the Year. Coaches of the Year are awarded for boys and girls coaches in each classification.
Nominations were taken from coaches who are members of the MBCA.
Coaches who nominated must be in the same classification as those who they nominated.
Board members for the MBCA selected the Richard Fairchild Coaches of the Year from all of the nominations during their March meeting.

Coaches will be honored at the Academic All-State banquet at 1:00 p.m. on May 5 at the Reynolds Alumni and Visitors Center on the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia.
