SIKESTON - Nola Mae "Diddie" Hays, 74, died at 6:45 a.m. May 4, 2002, at her home.
Born June 3, 1927, in Commerce, daughter of the late Robert Raymond and Mary Elizabeth Burns Hampton, she was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church. She worked in the Sikeston Middle School cafeteria for 10 years and had also been employed by the International Shoe factory in Sikeston.
On Nov. 15, 1944, in Sikeston, she married Everett W. Hays Sr. who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: four sons and daughters-in-law, Everett William and Imogene Hays Jr. of Pontoon Beach, Ill., Mike and Cissy Hays of Goose Creek, S.C., Dennis and Sheila Hays of Wappapello and Stephen and Franny Hays of Sikeston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and William Dixon of Washington, Ill., and Mary Jane and Joey Pierce of Sikeston; one brother, Robert Hampton of Sikeston; two sisters, Euna Adams and Naomi Hampton of Paris, Tenn.; and 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Tim Buchheit and the Rev. Billie Butler of Sikeston will officiate. They will be assisted by her nephew, Eugene Lambert of Paris, Tenn.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Greg Dixon, Rick Hays, Derrick Hays, Paul Pierce, Robert Hays, Stephen Polley, Chris Polley and Thomas Hale.
