EAST PRAIRIE - James Earvin Shands, 81, died at 6:35 a.m. Nov. 17, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Sept. 24, 1923, in Medina, Tenn., son of the late Hubie and Tina Elizabeth Todd Shands, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life. He was a retired farmer and timber cutter and member of Barnes Ridge Baptist Church near East Prairie.
On Oct. 9, 1943, he married Norah Pauline Parmer who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: four sons, Charles Shands of Charleston, Eddie Shands and Jimmie Shands of East Prairie and Johnnie Shands of Oran; and 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Tommie Joe Shands; and three sisters and two brothers.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday with Raymond Grimes, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
