SIKESTON - The C.E. Felker Jr. Memorial Park will be the name of Scott County's first roadside park to be given by the Scott County Collector and Mrs. C.E. Felker in memory of their son, Flight Officer C.E. Felker Jr., killed in an airplane accident soon after VE Day.
BENTON - The Scott County R-4 School District Board of Education announced that teachers reported for a workshop Tuesday. The classes will begin Friday.
SIKESTON - Veterans for Peace will be the theme of this year's Sikeston Cotton Carnival parade which is planned for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 28. The parade comes on the last day of the annual American Legion Cotton Carnival, which is scheduled to begin Sept. 23.

BENTON - Carnival rides, craft and agricultural displays and a Saturday parade are among activities planned for the Aug. 30-31 Benton Neighbor Day celebration.
SIKESTON - Sikeston is growing by leaps and bounds. And the Department of Public Words, Code Enforcement Division reports more is on the way. During the first seven months of 1995 over $7 million has been spent on construction in Sikeston. Projects range from advancing the area schools and hospital to providing employment and shopping convenience right here.

NEW MADRID - The Director's Award for Meritorious Team Effort was presented to members of the New Madrid County Health Department in honor of their work with Purple Care II. The certificates of appreciation were awarded to Dr. Charles Baker, administrator; Michelle Brazel, assistant administrator; Christine Sprengel, nutritionist; Christi Hicks, Missi Recker and Joann Carter, clerks; Paula Rost, director of nursing; Jimmy Bradley, sanitarian; and Ramona Radin and Frances Ponder, community health nurses.
