SIKESTON -- A tip after a report of a robbery and attempted rape has led to the arrest of a Sikeston man.

Anthony Dewayne Blackmon, 30, was arrested and charged through the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney's office with attempted rape, first degree burglary and stealing. He is currently being held in Scott County jail with a bond of $75,000.

At about midnight on Nov. 10, officers with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to a delayed report of a burglary and attempted rape.

The 16-year-old female victim told investigators that she was sleeping alone in her bed when she awoke with a man covering her mouth with his hand. The victim was unable to see the suspect due to the darkness, but she struggled and was able to get away. She also told officers a 19-inch television was missing from the house.

A tip led investigators to interview the victim's cousin, Blackmon, who admitted to breaking into the house. Blackmon said he stole a television and attempted to rape the victim.
