NEW MADRID - A Civil War Centennial reenactment of the Siege of New Madrid and the Battle of Island No. 10 will be staged here April 1.

SIKESTON - Miss Sally Webb and Robert Doolittle, students at Southeast Missouri State College, both won honors in the Missouri Forensics Tournament conducted at the college. Sally is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Webb of Sikeston and Robert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Doolittle of Sikeston.

SIKESTON - Sarah Moore, 5-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moore of Sikeston, won a stuffed dog from the dentistry office of Dr. David Gilmore and Steve Nast. The dentists had a contest for their children patients last month in observance of National Children's Dental Health Month. To receive the toy, the youngster was required to have the best checkup during the month.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A Matthews man, Peter Myers, is being considered for a position with the U.S. government as a deputy undersecretary of agriculture with the Soil Conservation Service.

NEW MADRID - The New Madrid Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for "Secretary of the Year." Residents are invited to submit in writing the name of a secretary and the reasons she should be selected Secretary of the Year.
