PORTAGEVILLE -- Charles Chamberlain, 73, died July 28, 2002, at the Portageville Nursing Center.
Born Nov. 13, 1928, in Qulin, son of the late Fred and Edna Weedman Chamberlain, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a truck driver for the Gremore Lime Company for many years before retiring.
On Aug. 2, 1953, at Corinth, Miss., he married Jane Wages who survives of the home in Portageville.
Other survivors include: one son, Dale Chamberlain of Portageville; four daughters, Charlene Hendrix and Linda Chamberlain of Portageville, Necie Reed of New Madrid and Mona Chamberlain of Marston; three brothers, Bill Chamberlain of Catron, Don Chamberlain of Lilbourn and Lee Chamberlain of Dexter; two sisters, Ruth Wallace of Gulfport, Miss., and Gail Laird of Sikeston; and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Freddie Chamberlain.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Lilbourn.
Visitation will continue from noon Wednesday until service time at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Portageville. The Rev. Mark Inman, pastor, will officiate.
New Madrid American Legion Post 595 will conduct military graveside rites at Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
