MARSTON - A small earthquake Wednesday afternoon was felt by area residents but no damage was reported.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported A 3.4 magnitude quake at 3:59 p.m. Wednesday. The quake originated two miles northwest of Marston, according to the federal agency.
The New Madrid County Sheriff's Department and the Portageville Police Department reported receiving numerous calls from concerned citizens following the quake. Neither law enforcement agency said they had received reports of injuries or damage from the shaking.
