NEW MADRID - Gary Phillips of Springfield has been hired as administrator for Magnolia Manor. Hired as assistant administrator was Randy Usery of Springfield. Future plans for Magnolia Manor include program certification for Medicare and various programs, including Adult Day Health Care and Respite Care.

BLOOMFIELD - While most individuals can't imagine in their wildest dreams what it's like to be aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia, Bloomfield Elementary School students were given a first-hand account Thursday afternoon. The youths had the opportunity to talk by two-way radio contact to crew members Richard Searfoss, William McArthur Jr. and Martin Fettman during a 8 1/2-minute conversation, three days after lift-off from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Fla.

CHARLESTON - The contract with the manager of the Mississippi County Airport will be reviewed and may be terminated. That decision was made by the County Commission following discussion with members of the SeMo Skydivers Club, who brought complaints concerning the manager's lack of maintenance and services that should be part of the airport operation.
