DEXTER - Ruth Rainey Dreadon Gaylord, 79, died Jan. 20, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Feb. 6, 1925, in Dexter, daughter of the late O.C. and Nina Norman Rainey, she was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ. She had been employed by the International Shoe Company and Elder Manufacturing before retiring.

On Dec. 6, 1947, at Paragould, Ark., she married Homer Dreadon who preceded her in death on June 29, 1983.

She and Virlin "Buz" Gaylord were married Nov. 23, 1998, at Piggott, Ark., and he survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Larry Dreadon of Watertown, Tenn.; one stepson, Jerry Dreadon of Tyrone, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Tonya Gaylord of Gaithersburg, Md., and Tyra Gaylord of South Bend, Ind.; one brother, Charles Rainey of Bonne Terre; one sister, Evelyn Duley of Dexter; and one grandson, Richard Dreadon.

Also preceding her in death were five brothers, Bob Rainey, Lee Rainey, Marvin Rainey, Loyd Rainey and Dale Rainey; and one sister, Dorothy Rainey.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday. Dale Grissom will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
