Glenna Guiling

DIEHLSTADT - Glenna Mae Guiling, 92, died at 2:27 p.m. Jan. 20, 2005, at the Ratliff Nursing Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 26, 1912, in Bee Branch, Ark., daughter of the late Joe and Margaret Lou Mahan Halbrook, she was a member of the Church of Christ in Charleston. She lived most of her life in Diehlstadt where she owned and operated the Guiling Shoe Outlet until her retirement.

On Feb. 20, 1932, she married Hallie Harold Guiling who preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1975.

Survivors include: one son, Forrest H. Guiling of Diehlstadt; three daughters, Laquita Joy McCulloch of Desloge, Shelby Jean Hurley of Portageville and Ladora Vail Quertermous of Diehlstadt; one brother, Quentin Halbrook of Morrilton, Ark.; and eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

One brother, Iral B. Halbrook, preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday. Her grandson, Travis Quertermous, minister of the Church of Christ in Pacific, and Daniel Bell, minister of the Charleston Church of Christ, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.

Pallbearers will be: John McCulloch, Steve McCulloch, Shawn Guiling, Justin Guiling, Parrish Hurley, Perry Hurley and Scott Quertermous.
