SIKESTON - Sikeston will play host to Southeast Missouri football fans here Friday night when the Northern and Southern conference winners - Caruthersville and Perryville - meet on the neutral field to decide the championship of the big school conferences in this district.

MATTHEWS - A dynamite storage shed on the T.F. Miller farm, south of Sikeston, was blown up shortly after noon Wednesday. It is believed a gunshot was fired into the building, as a 410-shotgun shell was found lying outside the building, located on Champion Lane Road south of Matthews.

SIKESTON - Barbara Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Simpson of Sikeston, was selected as 1984 Winter Princess Saturday. Melinda Dame, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Dame of Sikeston, was first runner-up and Traci Jackson, 16, daughter of Chris and Terry Jackson, was named second runner-up. The contest was sponsored by the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce.

SIKESTON - The eighth annual City of Lights tour officially started Monday night with a tree-lighting ceremony at the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce. Two tours per night will leave the Sikeston Airport lobby and the Kingsway Mall at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. today through Thursday and Dec. 12-15. The tours are free.


SIKESTON - The Southeast Missouri Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame held its annual induction banquet Saturday at the Sikeston High School cafeteria. Nine local amateur baseball supporters were honored by the organization.
