DEXTER -- Ruby Hampton, 80, died April 27, 2007, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Born Feb. 19, 1927, in Dorsey, Miss., daughter of the late Benjamin Calvin and Lola Mae Christian Franks, she had lived in Southeast Missouri most of her life and moved to Dexter in 1953. She was a homemaker and had been a volunteer at the V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff for many years.

On Aug. 8, 1946, at East Prairie, she married George Hampton who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Tom Hampton of Dexter; four daughters, Linda Foster and Teresa Gibson of Dexter, Marilyn Shatoska of Prairieville, La., and Connie Hampton of Wappapello; three sisters, Opal Kelso, Tarlie Cox and Jackie Hale of Peoria, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Brad Foster; two brothers, Bill Franks and Bobby Franks; and two sisters, Ruth Wilburn and Berniece Hampton.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time for services at 11 a.m. Monday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Phil Warren of Dexter will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
