SIKESTON -- A report of a shoplifter has led to the arrest of a Sikeston woman on drug charges.
Rebecca Glass, 32, is currently being held on possession of Ephedrine through Scott County with a bond set at $5,000. More charges are pending through both Scott and New Madrid County.
According to Sikeston Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden, officers responded to Wal-Mart on South Main Tuesday on a report of a shoplifter.
When they arrived, Glass was being detained by the Wal-Mart loss prevention team. She had attempted to steal several items that are consistent with the production of methamphetamines and had also assaulted one of the loss prevention team members and attempted to flee the business.
At DPS headquarters, booking officers found approximately 20 grams of a white powder, later determined to be Ephedrine, and approximately five grams of an unpackaged leafy substance, which later was identified as marijuana. Ephedrine is commonly an ingredient used in the making of methamphetamine.
Officers obtained a search warrant for Glass' home at 1513 E. Kathleen after another occupant refused to allow a search. During the search, officers found drug paraphernalia and a kit containing nearly all of the remaining items needed to complete the production of methamphetamine. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are pending.
