EAST PRAIRIE - Jerry Neal Burton, 67, died at 11:40 p.m. Nov. 19, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Jan. 5, 1937, in Mississippi County, son of Mary Alice Corecelius Burton Henley of St. Louis and the late William "Bill" Burton, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life. A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, he had attained the rank of Chief/E7. He worked for the City of East Prairie for 12 years and for Procter and Gamble - Frucon Division for 12 years and was a member of the Gravel Baptist Church.

On Jan. 3, 1959, he married Drucella Ward who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry N. and Chellie Burton II of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers, John Burton of Blodgett and Rick Henley of Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters, Karen Baber of Florissant and Ruth Talent of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday. Richard Corecelius will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Anniston Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Steve Secoy, Monty McTigue, Butch Smoot, Donnie Coffer, Bob Williams and John Skaggs.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Harold Lemons, Alfreda Miller, Sid Drummonds, Jackie Barker, Paula Fern Barker, Patsy Ray and Teddy Bennett.
