Born June 27, 1912, at Westville, Okla., son of the late Jesse J. and Lana Peden Copeland, he was a self-employed lumberjack and was of the Baptist belief.
He and Vesta Mills were married at Harrison, Ark., and she preceded him in death on June 14, 1999.
Survivors include: four sons, Jesse L. Copeland of Jacksonville, Fla., Johnnie Earl Copeland and James C. Copeland of Harrison and Alton Copeland of Dexter; three daughters, Hazle M. Pearson of Long Beach, Calif., and Wilma Copeland and Dorthy McNair of Oklahoma City; and 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Also preceding him in death were one daughter, Maudie McBride; one brother, Raymond Copeland; and two sisters, Nellie Wishon and Maudie McTear.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Kevin Chenoweth will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
