SIKESTON - Excavation started Wednesday on Lindley Avenue, adjacent to the municipal swimming pool preparatory to graveling the street north, where it intersects with Hunter and what was known as Taylor. Taylor is now designated Lindley.

SIKESTON - Hubert Cooksey severed an artery in his wrist Friday when a jug of water he was handling slipped. He tried to grab for it and it broke.

JEFFERSON CITY - Meridith Lee, Charles Blanton Jr., William Sikes and Clarence Scott, accompanied by Rep. George J. Germain from Illmo, plan to be in Jefferson City to attend a meeting with the Missouri State Highway Commission.

SIKESTON - A purchase by Malone & Hyde will impact their Sikeston distribution facility. Bob Harris, president of Malone & Hyde Inc. and Larry Steelman, president of Associated Grocers' Company of St. Louis, have announced the companies have reached an agreement in which Associated Grocers' Company will sell certain assets to Malone & Hyde Inc., including inventory, certain leases and receivables.
