Mike, we do so appreciate Old Glory being in the paper. It would be so nice if you could run it once a week so we could display it.

I was reading in the Associate Court records where you printed the so-called charges against these people. Do you ever go back and redo these charges? I'm sitting here reading the names of two people whose charges were dropped. You have them in here for distributing, possession or attempted delivery. These charges were dropped because the authorities had nothing on them.

Nobody is incorrect here. The Standard Democrat receives copies of the actual court dockets from the various area courts. Look at the first paragraph in the report that was published in the newspaper and it will tell you the actual court date. We receive this information several days after that day's court was in session and it is sometimes several more days before it is published in the paper. So it is very possible that the charges against suspected offenders were dropped before you read the report in the newspaper. That person's name should not appear (regarding the same case unless the court's decision is overturned) in a subsequent report provided to us by the court.

When you see all these people being interviewed on TV, you wonder, "Where did they come from and where have we been for the last 20 years?" Bill Clinton let all these people in the United States just for extra votes to become president so he could go to bed with a few narrow-minded women. Look what the result has been and the price we paid.

We have two truckloads of firewood and if you haul it off, you can have it for free. The phone number 481-0283.

We are selling firewood. Call 471-8515.

Why is it when you receive the free paper in Sikeston on Wednesdays you get all the ads and sale bills. I live in Dexter and am a subscriber. Why don't I get the same ads and sale bills in my paper when I'm paying for it, but the people who don't pay for them get all the ads on Wednesday?

You should not be having this problem. If you will call our circulation office (471-1137) and identify yourself, we will get the situation corrected.

I have great respect for our police and firefighters, but today was the worst show of privacy invaded. I went to the cemetery to visit the gravesite of my friend and her daughter, who were killed on Sept. 29. He backed his patrol car up so as to turn into the cemetery. I was needed the privacy to say good-bye. He came past and stared to see what I was doing. This was around 2 p.m. Oct. 4 near the Southwest Grade School. Please, DPS, let people who are visiting a cemetery grieve in their own way of paying tribute and saying good-bye.
