SIKESTON - An 8 pound, 1 ounce son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Luther Stropp at Sikeston General Hospital Tuesday.

SIKESTON - Seventeen patients were receiving treatment in the Sikeston General Hospital Monday. It was a record number.

SIKESTON - It was announced this morning that the ticket office for the 9th Annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo has been moved from the Gay 90s village to the ticket car parked at the Jaycee Rodeo Grounds. Because of the difficulty of reassembling all the bands and other units planned for the rodeo parade, the event has been canceled.

SIKESTON - Several new Girl Scout leaders attended the First Six Star Neighborhood meeting Sept. 3 at the home of Mrs. Phyllis Colbert, 108 Salcedo Road.

SIKESTON - Enrollment figures for school districts in Southeast Missouri are very close to those for last year, according to preliminary figures. Charleston was the biggest attendance loser in the area, down 60 students to a figure of 1,696. Kelly Public Schools showed the biggest gain, 58 students. Richland gained eight students for a total of 452 and Scott Central lost 41 to 359. New Madrid Public Schools went up a little bit with a preliminary enrollment of 2,356, Portageville was up 40 to 992 and Dexter went down 20 students for 2,270. Bell City only lost 10 this year and East Prairie lost 30 with 1,267 students this year. Oran gained a dozen and has 357 students this year. Chaffee stayed about the same at 680. More than one-fourth of the total students in the four county area attend Sikeston Public Schools. Sikeston is down 48 students with 4,389 attending this year.
