Traffic accidents reported by Highway Patrol

POPLAR BLUFF - The Missouri Highway Patrol reported two accidents Tuesday which resulted in injuries to a passenger and a driver.

A one-vehicle accident resulted in moderate injuries to Walker W. Thacker, 56, of New Madrid, who was riding in a truck driven by Brian J. Box, 21, of Lilbourn. The accident occurred shortly after midnight when Box was traveling east on Route T in Pemiscot County, three miles south of Portageville. Box failed to stop at a stop sign, struck a ditch and traveled into a bean field. Thacker was taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.

The second accident was reported at 4:05 p.m. on Route Z, one mile south of Vanduser in Scott County.

According to reports, Virginia B. Geer, 87, of Vanduser, was driving north when she fell asleep and ran off the east side of the road and struck a tree. Geer suffered serious injuries and was transported by air to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
