Call 471-6636

I think the NAACP and Black Panthers ought to be on the terrorist list.

Can you tell me when the fall cleanup is in Sikeston? I've been watching for it in the paper but haven't seen it.

Fall cleanup was done in mid-September. However, Make a Difference Day is set for Oct. 20 and 21, dumpsters will be available at the Sikeston Compost Site where Sikeston residents can haul their junk to be disposed of. You can take anything except hazardous materials like chemicals, paint or lead-acid batteries. Appliances and old furniture can be taken there from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. The site is on Compress Road west of the new fire station.

The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce has the "God Bless America" yard signs that someone was looking for in SpeakOut. Cost is $10 each. Also available at SACC is a package of two bumper stickers and a flag lapel pin at a cost of $5 for all. The number is 471-2498.

If you want the God Bless America signs, call us at 380-2123.

I'm calling in response to the person looking for a yard sign with a flag on it. I got mine from Smithson Signs and Graphics in East Prairie. Their number is 649-9090.

Mr. Jensen, you hit the nail right on the head. Whether Mr. Simpson is guilty or not, he will be found guilty. Why? Because society feels like he should be in jail anyway. Although a jury (of his peers) acquitted him in 1994, we have been waiting for him to do something, anything so we could nail him. Personally, I believe he was guilty back in 1994. Had I been on the jury, I would have voted to acquit him also. Not because he had such a great defense team. He did. But because the prosecution sucked. The difference with this present case and 1994, the prosecution.

Could you tell me, how many times is a person supposed to go up for arraignment when you have been arrested? Also, isn't the public defender supposed to work for you and not for the judge? My nephew was arrested for a crime. He went up three times and pled not guilty and hasn't had a court date yet. The public defender told him she wants him to just plead guilty and get it over with. Can someone tell me what is going on? I thought a public defender was supposed to help the ones who don't the money for an attorney. Somebody needs to check into this.

You Republicans better listen to me and listen good. You know you are never a failure until you blame somebody else for it. If you don't quit blaming the Democrats and Bill Clinton for your problems, since you're in charge now for the next three and a half years, we're going to be in bad shape at the end of the three and a half years. You know what I'm saying?

As a Christian parent, I am very concerned that our library chose to recognize "Harry Potter" in a recent event. If you research the author of these books, you will find that she has written other adult books on the topics of witchcraft and sorcery. It seems that she has taken these same topics for children under the guise of Harry Potter. In days like these, we need to take a stand against the evil that so easily infiltrates our children, our schools and our homes. I urge parents to take a stand against the Harry Potter series and not support the efforts of those who are making these available to our children. Let the library and schools know that you do not want our children subjected to these topics and these books. They may appear harmless, but research the author's background for yourself and don't be fooled into thinking they are OK. By taking a stand together, we as Christians can make a difference.
