CAPE GIRARDEAU - The Sikeston junior varsity soccer team lost to Cape Central's JV team on Tuesday, 3-0 in the Cape Tournament.
Sixth-seeded Sikeston (6-7-1) will play for third place on Thursday against Carbondale at 4 p.m.
Cape Central's Jason Sellers gave the Tigers the lead with a goal in the first half. Ben Watson added two goals in the second half for the Tigers. The Tigers had 18 shots on goal while Sikeston had 14. Jake Marsh had 10 saves.
"I thought we played pretty well," said Sikeston head coach Derrick Long. "We knew going in that it would be tough. They're seeded No. 1 and they have a really strong team."
Oran vs. Charleston
ORAN -- Oran defeated Charleston's volleyball team in straight sets Tuesday, 15-8, 15-10.
Jessica Prino served 11 points and Candice Duncan had eight assists. Maria Eftink contributed 10 kills and five aces.
Oran (18-8-1) will travel to Bell City on Thursday.
Sikeston vs. Bell City
Sikeston's junior varsity volleyball team lost to Bell City on Monday, falling in three sets, 4-15, 17-15, 13-15.
Sikeston was led statistically by: Paige Kaiser (6 kills), Maggie Pfefferkorn (2 kills), Audra Wooley (3 kills, 4 aces), Erin Bell (4 kills), Lindsay Davis (1 ace), Erin Box (2 aces) and Tori McConnell (3 aces).
Sikeston will host NMCC on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Kelly at North County
PARK HILLS - Kelly's cross country team took second place in the North County Invitational on Saturday.
The Hawks finished with 45 team points, finishing behind Farmington who collected 22 points. Kelly was followed by Viburnum (93), Notre Dame (105), Meadow Heights (169), North County (189) and Oak Ridge (204).
Adam Lofton finished in sixth place with a time of 18:05. Other Kelly finishers were Ashley Hahn (7th, 18:07), Adam Daughhetee (8th, 18:19), Lance Scheffer (10th, 18:23), Lance Ferrell (14th, 18:36), Trey Simmons (15th, 18:46), and Michael Glastetter (16th, 18:19).
Kelly took third place in the varsity girls race with 101 points.
Shannon Lawson finished in 13th place with a time of 24:55. Other Kelly finishers were Janessa Burford (18th, 25:36), Katie Heeb (21st, 28:08), Katrena Martin (23rd, 27:04), and Kristina New (25th, 27:38).
In the junior varsity boys race, Kelly took second with 66 points. Kelly medalists were Chris Romas, Ryan Koch, Derek Felter and Todd Brucker. In the junior varsity girls race, Kelly medalists were Ashley Seyer, Natalie Walter and Natalie Scherer.
