SIKESTON - Jessie Green, 96, died July 17, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Dec. 26, 1910, in Pocahontas, Ark., daughter of the late Isaac Elvie and Josie (Davidson) Marlett, she was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ for over 40 years and the Bootheel Quilter's Guild. She had owned and operated Green's Grocery in Smith Addition and later Salcedo Store before retiring.

On Dec. 20, 1933, she married Harl Green who preceded her in death on March 15, 1986.

One brother, Emmett Marlett; one sister, Edith Dalton; and two daughters, Betty Green and Cora Green, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by: two daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley and Ed Schwab of Shreveport, La., and Donna Morris of Sikeston; one sister, Iola Grissom of Cape Girardeau; three grandsons, Craig Schwab, Keith and Laura Schwab of Monroe, La., and Allen and Melanie Morris of Jackson; and four great-grandchildren, Steven Schwab, Taylor Schwab and Reagan Schwab of Monroe and Tyler Morris of Jackson.

Friends may call from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ponder Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Pat Hogan, minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ, will officiate. The roses placed on Mrs. Green's casket were given to her in honor of her 80th birthday by her sister Iola.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Jim McClellan, James Price, Gene Hosey, Edsel Wylie, Chester Bell and Mark Crocker.
