Raymond Savat

MARSTON - Raymond Leonard Savat, 68, of Marston died 10:20 p.m. Nov. 3, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born March 14, 1933, in New Madrid County, son of the late Leonard and Pearl Lovins Savat, he was a postmaster for 22 years in Marston and a member of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church in Marston.

On Sept. 11, 1954, in Hernando, Miss., he married Martha Curtis, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Raymond Louis Savat of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; one daughter, Sandra Savat Mann of Matthews; four sisters, Shelby Desmore of New Madrid, Rose Gaddis and Joyce Perkins of Portageville and Barbara Costello of Millington, Tenn.; two brothers, George Savat of New Madrid and James "Pete" Savat of Marston; two grandchildren, Kim Dial of the state of Colorado and Ava Savat of Marston; and one great-grandchild, Davin Savat of Marston.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid where services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The Rev. Bill Baldwin, pastor at the Evergreen Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery.
