ST. LOUIS -- Kelly's cross country team competed in the 39th Annual Hancock Invitational at Jefferson Barricks Park in St. Louis on Saturday.
The meet featured 78 teams from all over the Midwest, broken up into three divisions. Kelly's varsity boys team took sixth place in its division of 22 teams with 202 team points.
"For a 2A school, I think we did a good job," said Kelly coach John Merrick. "We had some real good individual performances."
Adam Lofton finished in 16th place with a time of 18:05. Ashley Hahn continued his streak of medaling in all meets by taking 22nd with a time of 18:13. Other Kelly finishers were Lance Scheffer (53rd, 19:10), Michael Glastetter (54th, 19:11), Andrew Mothershead (60th, 19:13), Adam Daughhetee (68th, 19:34), and Trey Simmons (79th, 19:45).
"Adam Lofton and Ashley Hahn have been very consistent for us," said Merrick. "We get some good senior leadership, but we've got a young group of kids that are pushing for varsity spots. It's that competition that keeps these kids going."
In the boys junior varsity race, Kelly placed 30th in the field of 39 teams. Against over 400 runners, Lance Ferrell placed 116th with a time of 20:38. Other Kelly finishers were Chris Romas (117th, 20:39), Donnie Riley (213th, 22:33), Derek Felter (216th, 22:47), Bud Worley (218th, 23:00), Todd Brucker (232nd, 23:08), and Trent Walter (23.34).
